AquaBoreal franchit une étape réglementaire déterminante
Baie-Trinité, le 4 mars 2026 — AquaBoreal franchit une étape majeure avec le dépôt officiel hier du décret ministériel autorisant la réalisation de son projet d’aquaculture terrestre au Québec. Cette avancée réglementaire majeure confirme la pleine conformité du projet aux exigences environnementales en vigueur et atteste de la rigueur et de la profondeur du processus d’évaluation auquel il a été soumis, afin de répondre en tous points aux attentes du gouvernement du Québec.
Cette autorisation marque un jalon essentiel vers la concrétisation du projet et permet à l’entreprise d’entamer les démarches menant à l’obtention des permis de construction.
Depuis plus de quatre ans, AquaBoreal a investi des ressources financières et scientifiques considérables afin de réaliser des études environnementales complètes et indépendantes. Ces travaux ont mobilisé des experts reconnus et reposent sur des données scientifiques robustes, dans un souci constant de transparence, de performance environnementale et d’acceptabilité sociale.
Mégawatts, permis et financement : des conditions clés réunies
AquaBoreal franchit une étape déterminante dans la concrétisation de son projet et dispose désormais des trois leviers essentiels à sa réalisation.
L’entreprise bénéficie d’abord d’une préautorisation pour le bloc d’électricité, assortie d’exigences clairement établies, ainsi que de l’ensemble des autorisations réglementaires requises. Elle a également obtenu le décret ministériel nécessaire à la délivrance de ses permis de construction. Enfin, le projet jouit d’une accessibilité sociale favorable, un facteur clé pour toute initiative d’envergure.
Forte de ces avancées structurantes, AquaBoreal est maintenant en position de poursuivre activement le montage financier de son projet, en collaboration avec ses investisseurs et partenaires stratégiques.

Aligné avec les orientations du Plan d’action nordique 2023-2028 du gouvernement du Québec, le projet d’AquaBoreal repose sur un ancrage territorial fort et sur une collaboration étroite avec les partenaires régionaux. Il s’inscrit comme un levier structurant de développement économique durable pour la Côte-Nord, générant des retombées locales durables et des emplois spécialisés.

Quebec clears the way for AquaBoreal land-based salmon farming
AquaBoreal reaches an important regulatory milestone
Baie-Trinité, March 4, 2026 — AquaBoreal has reached a major milestone with yesterday’s official filing of a ministerial decree authorizing the implementation of its land-based aquaculture project in Quebec. This major regulatory breakthrough confirms the project’s full compliance with current environmental requirements and attests to the rigour and depth of the assessment process it has gone through in order to meet all the Government of Quebec’s expectations.
This authorization marks a key milestone for the project and means the company can start the process of obtaining construction permits.
For more than four years, AquaBoreal has invested considerable financial and scientific resources to conduct comprehensive and independent environmental studies. These studies were carried out by recognized experts and are based on robust scientific data, with a focus on transparency, environmental performance and social acceptability.
Megawatts, permits and funding: key conditions met
AquaBoreal has reached an important milestone in advancing its project and now has the three levers necessary to carry it out.
The company has obtained preliminary approval for the power allocation, subject to clearly defined conditions, as well as all required regulatory approvals. It has also received the ministerial decree necessary for the issuance of its construction permits. Lastly, the project enjoys high social acceptability, a key factor for any large-scale initiative.
With these important developments, AquaBoreal is now in a position to actively pursue the financial structuring of its project with its investors and strategic partners.
