AquaBoréal s’inscrit au Plan d’action nordique 2023-2028 du gouvernement du Québec

Un appui financier du ministère de l’Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l’Alimentation (MAPAQ) pour propulser un projet phare d’aquaculture nordique.

 

Baie-Trinité, le 11 décembre 2025 – AquaBoréal franchit une étape déterminante de son développement. L’entreprise québécoise bénéficiera d’un soutien financier du gouvernement du Québec, dans le cadre du Plan d’action nordique 2023-2028, pour développer la production, la transformation et la mise en marché des produits bioalimentaires nordiques dans le cadre du Plan d’action nordique 2023‑2028.

Cet appui financier, d’un montant maximal de 500 000 dollars consenti dans le cadre de l’Entente financière entre le ministère de l’Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l’Alimentation (MAPAQ) et la Société du Plan Nord (SPN) 2023-2028, permettra d’accélérer la mise en œuvre de son ambitieux projet aquacole, basé à Baie-Trinité, visant la production annuelle de 10 000 tonnes de saumon de table entièrement dédiée au marché québécois. Baie-Trinité figure parmi les meilleurs sites d’élevage au monde grâce à la qualité exceptionnelle de son eau salée provenant du golfe du Saint-Laurent, un atout naturel déterminant pour l’entreprise.

Ce financement favorisera l’avancement des phases de production et de transformation du projet, tout en renforçant un objectif partagé : diversifier l’économie bioalimentaire nordique et accroître l’autonomie alimentaire du Québec.

 

Investir dans la vitalité des territoires nordiques

Avec plus de 2,57 milliards d’investissements, le Plan d’action nordique 2023-2028, coordonné par la SPN, vise à assurer la vitalité des régions nordiques du Québec. L’orientation 2 de ce plan mise sur les forces économiques nordiques, notamment les activités bioalimentaires nordiques, en favorisant le développement de la production, la transformation et la commercialisation des produits nordiques de façon durable.

Le projet d’AquaBoréal, situé au nord du 49^e parallèle, répond pleinement aux objectifs de cette mesure financière :

• Développer la production aquacole durable dans une région côtière nordique.
• Assurer la transformation et la mise en marché de produits bioalimentaires de qualité.
• Favoriser le transfert de connaissances et l’adoption de pratiques durables en aquaculture.
• Participer au développement économique local et à l’attractivité du territoire

AquaBoréal is included in the Northern Action Plan 2023‑2028 of the Gouvernement du Québec

Financial support from the Ministère de l’Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l’Alimentation (MAPAQ) to boost a flagship northern aquaculture project.

Baie-Trinité, December 11, 2025 – AquaBoréal reaches an important milestone in its development. The Québec-based company will receive financial support from the Gouvernement du Québec in the framework of the Northern Action Plan 2023-2028 to develop production, processing and marketing of northern biofood products in the framework of the Northern Action Plan 2023‑2028.

This financial support amounting to a maximum of $500,000 granted under the Financial Agreement between the Ministère de l’Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l’Alimentation (MAPAQ) and the Société du Plan Nord (SPN) for 2023-2028 will speed up the implementation of its ambitious aquaculture project based in Baie-Trinité, with the objective of achieving an annual production of 10,000 tonnes of table salmon exclusively for the Quebec market. Baie-Trinité is one of the best aquaculture sites in the world as a result of the exceptional quality of its saltwater from the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, a critical natural asset for the company.

This financing will facilitate the advancement of the project’s production and processing stages, while consolidating a shared goal: diversifying the northern biofood economy and increasing Quebec’s food self-sufficiency.

 

Investing in the vitality of the northern regions

With over $2.57 billion in investment, the Northern Action Plan 2023-2028, coordinated by the SPN, aims to ensure the vitality of the northern regions of Québec. Orientation 2 of this plan is capitalizing on northern economic strengths, in particular in northern biofood activities, by promoting sustainable development of the production, processing and marketing of northern products.

The AquaBoréal project, located north of the 49th parallel, fully meets the objectives of this financial measure:
