Dairy farmer by birth, Marcel Groleau is currently head of different agricultural and food organizations. Marcel was President of Les Producteurs de lait du Quebec from 2004 to 2011, and General President of the Union des producteurs agricoles (UPA) until December 2021. He has also held the positions of President of UPA Développement international, President of AgriCord, and President of the Coalition Nourrir l’humanité durablement. Marcel Groleau sits on the boards of ITHQ and BAQ (Les Banques alimentaires du Quebec).
Inducted into the Quebec Agriculture Hall of Fame on June 5, 2024, in recognition of his leadership and exceptional contribution, he also recently received an honorary doctorate from McGill University, the highest academic distinction.
His positive leadership, guided by collaborative and consultative governance, has been key to his success. Recognized both in Quebec and internationally for his role in trade negotiations and his commitment to future generations through the creation of agricultural trusts, Mr. Groleau continues to play a vital role in sustainable development and food security.
He joins Agro Quebec as a special contributor to share his thoughts on current events and issues in the agri-food sector.
